In September MoOD will unite premium textile manufacturers from 20 European countries. But the top 5 of best represented countries also contains 2 non-European territories: Turkey and India. Their close relationships with the European market are very clear at MoOD. We visited 2 new exhibitors who represent their offer on MoOD: Yünsa from Turkey and GM Syntex from India.

Yünsa: “Turkey is increasingly targetting by a higher segment”

Yünsa is a remarkable new Turkish exhibitor at MoOD. The company claims to be the biggest manufacturer of woollen textiles and worsted fabrics in Turkey and Europe. They are particularly well known in fashion, but with that neatly accumulated knowhow, they now also going for the segment of interior fabrics. Late last year they hosted the world congress of the IWTO (International Wool Textile Organization) in Istanbul. They organised a roundtable discussion about the future of wool. One of the remarkable conclusions was that wool has become a niche product and requires top quality. And another was that more and more Turkish companies want to target that niche market.

Quality, speed, flexibility and design

Once upon a time Turkish manufacturers where know to be volume producers. Today they put all their weight behind reversing that image. Yünsa: “We execute, manufacture and service quality, speed, flexibility and design ceaselessly. Our international sales network exports to more than 50 countries. We focus on energy efficiency, machine efficiency and process management.” Design is also a topic of focus for Turkish companies, according to Yünsa who knows to appreciate the power of Italian design and even opened a design office in Italy.

 Optimism despite everything

Despite unfavourable conditions experienced all over the world, Yünsa believes in the revival of the European market. “Europe is the largest export market for Turkish weaving mills. We see hopeful signs indicating an acceleration of the European residential market.” Yünsa has become a major player with brands like Hugo Boss, Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Paul Smith, Calvin Klein, Massimo Dutti, Max Mara etc. They are thoroughly committed to making a name for themselves in the interior market: “We will make one more step towards world leadership in 2016. Our focus is on sustainable profitable growth, by means of segment transfer, commercial excellence projects and new collections in top segment markets. We also expect growth in domestic markets in 2016.”

GM Syntex (India) aspires to emerge as a leader in the textile industry

“Born out of passion for innovative fabric design”, that is the way the new Indian exhibitor GM Syntex profiles itselves in Europe. That passion is on display in the stylish, contemporary and fresh collections you will be able to discover on MoOD soon. Their upholstery and window coverings are created from high-grade materials and represent top design. And GM Syntex is not shy to admit their ambitions. The company is striving for the number one spot in the world of textile manufacturers. Hence MoOD has become an excellent base of operations for GM Syntex.

Natural materials for a niche market

GM Syntex is focussing on the more heavier fabrics like cotton, linen, jute and wool. For the lighter window coverings, GM Syntex is also using artificial silk and blends of different materials. The choice of natural materials also means the choice of a niche market which is lead by aesthetics and luxury. And naturally, the choice for the European export market.

Design sets the trend

GM Syntex offers various styles, from casual to ultra formal. Their high-end design is the driving force behind their success. And of course they keep a finger on the pulse of the worldwide evolutions in trends. The company knows how to combine technicity with design like no other. And the same goes for luxury paired with functionality.

We are all looking forward to the creative promise of these non-European exhibitors at MoOD:
