FAIRWORLD HOME TEXTILE MAGAZINE APRIL 2016 － Proposte | Italy Como #71
Turkish home textile industry had a positive start to the first quarter of the year thanks to high export value. With these pleasing developments, in Proposte, European markets and interest of American buyers are particular concerns to us.
As in the past year, three Turkish companies attend the exhibition; of course, we hope that we can see much more familiar name here.
As well as participating in such a prestigious event, another significant point is that
Turkey's target markets match up with countries where buyers and other visitors come from. When we look at the figures, the target markets for Proposte exhibitors are the United States followed, in order, by the UK, Germany and France. Excluding Russia that imposed sanctions on Turkey because of the political tension, these are our biggest export markets. Also worthy of special mention are those countries that are gaining an ever-greater share of the market each year.
It's true that the industry is affected negatively by Russian sanctions, but it's not a significant size. Furthermore lifting international sanctions on Iran will compensate this limited loss. Also not counting countries such as German, France and Italy, our export to other European countries is on the rise.
There are is a promising future for companies that is innovative, competitive and carry out aggressive marketing strategies.
Lastly I want to add info related to visitors in Proposte; textile designers constitute the biggest component (43%), followed by wholesalers (24%), upholstered furniture manufacturers (13%) and the contract sector, which always commands a considerable slice of the market (9%). The remaining 7% is split between distribution chains and converters. The "other" category accounts for 4%. I wish you a fruitful business...
