FAIRWORLD MAY | JUNE 2016 －EVTEKS / HOME TEXTILE | CNR EXPO Yeşilköy / ISTANBUL #72
Turkey ranks fourth now in the global home textile industry after China, India and Pakistan in terms of export volume.
The domestic industry aims to rise to second place overtaking India and Pakistan in the home textile exporters list through new alternative markets as a result of economic shrinkage in the EU countries and new contracts in the Iran's virgin market.
Turkish exports may rise between 8 and 10 percent with the end of sanctions on neighboring Iran. Key sectors for Turkish companies in Iran are automotive, textiles and clothing and Turkish home textile products are well-known as a brand and company in the Iran market, so the neighboring country now has a great potential for us.
Industrial associations also work hard to make the companies more competitive, more powerful and more advantageous against international rivals.
In this regard, they prepared a new road map to continue the growth in the export without slowing down; accordingly the industry will feature products with high added value and turn the export route to new markets from European countries in the face of increasing regional crises.
The "economic hole" in the EU member countries is steadily expanding, so there is the possibility that trading with these countries will affect adversely Turkish home textile companies.
So our companies should head for new markets such as Far East, Africa and South America as well as Iran.
